Cheap hotels, sun-drenched beaches and facilities to suit all ages pretty much sums up the beautiful resort of Albena. Resting on a fine bay on the black sea coast of Bulgaria, holidays in Albena are becoming more and more popular with British tourists in search of a fun filled beach holiday. The nightlife on an Albena holiday tends to be very much hotel based, however there is a fabulous beach front promenade that boasts many restaurants and bars for you to enjoy. Many, if not all are very well catered towards families, therefore taking your little ones need not be a worry.

Albena is located a mere 25 miles from Varna Airport, the main serving hub for flights to Albena. Holidaymakers can fly from all major airports in the UK with many tour operators selling fantastic cheap holidays to Albena. Transfers from the airport can be arranged prior to travel or if you prefer to jump in a taxi as soon as you arrive, there are many taxis available outside the airport. Getting around on your Albena holidays is done via ‘the little train’ that runs around resort and takes you directly to the beach.
Holidays to Albena tend to focus around the stunning beach that so many holidaymakers come here for, however outside the golden sands and crystal waters lies a wealth of history and culture. One place that should make the list of places to visit is Kaliakra. For a thousand years or more, Kaliakra was a major settlement, first for the Romans, then the Bulgarians, however it was finally destroyed in the Ottoman invasion. It's a fascinating place offering spectacular views out to sea. There is a small museum located here that is extremely interesting due to it actually being in a cave. You should definitely take a day trip here and experience this incredible site.
Although it is said that the food and drink in Albena is believed to be the most expensive in Bulgaria, one certainly gets good value for money. There are many quality restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian, continental European, Indian and Chinese cuisine, as well as those serving British favourites. Most of the eateries here sit along the resort's bustling promenade and are right beside the beach.
