Getting there and getting around

Flights to Petra arrive into Mytilini Airport, which is located only a few kilometres from resort. Flights leave from the UK every Thursday from London Gatwick Airport and Manchester Airport and can be found at very reasonable prices. Transfers in the majority of Greece tend to be done via shuttle buses as they are the least expensive however taxis can be found easily whilst on your holidays in Petra and again prices are very reasonable. Some visitors prefer to have their own freedom on holiday rather than relying on local transport and therefore decide to hire a car, this way you can sample not only the tremendous beauty of Petra but also the neighbouring resorts.

Things to do

Sitting proudly right in the centre of Petra is a 30 metre high rock that is capped by the magnificent church of Glyfylousa Panagia. There are a staggering 114 steps carved into the rock formation offering superb views of Petra and the coast. Visitors to Petra can take day trips to this famous landmark and walk up the steps to catch a glimpse of the scenery that is so highly talked about in resort. Petra holidays are renowned for boasting some of the most spectacular sunsets and having the opportunity to watch the sun go down on this famous site is said to be truly unforgettable. A holiday is not a holiday without at least one day of complete relaxation. Holidaymakers can take advantage of the beautiful beach lapped by crystal clear waters, whilst sipping on an exotic cocktail and topping up their tan.

Food and drink

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink in Petra. Local restaurants and cafes dedicate their menu to diversity offering a whole range of different cuisine. Greek dishes are a favourite here with both locals and tourists opting for traditional meals rather than their typical home comforts. Food is served generously yet prices are still really cheap. You will find on your holidays to Petra that the majority of tavernas offers a complimentary half glass of ouzo after you have finished your meal, which might give you a bit of a bad head in the morning!
