Food and drink

The cuisine in Varadero is predominately Spanish-inspired food. However traditional Cuban dishes are also very popular. The majority of eateries in Varadero are hotel based with virtually all properties running on an all inclusive basis. The locals here eat a lot of roasted and fried pork accompanied by rice, but the firm favourite for Cubans is their national dish, ‘ajiaco,’ which is chunky meat and vegetable stew. Unfortunately you won’t see ajiaco on many of the menus in Varadero but if you do stumble across it, definitely give it a try.
