Getting there and getting around

The Amalfi Coast is home to an array of pretty little towns such as Positano, Ravello, Minori, Maiori, Salerno and Amalfi itself. Holidaymakers wishing to travel to any of these charming locations will need to fly into Naples Capodichino Airport. There aren’t currently any flights to Amalfi itself, however Naples Airport is only two hours away and there are plenty of transport options available. Many Coach tours are offered at the airport due to the transfer trip being so picturesque; you have the option of simply jumping on a coach and travelling to your chosen accommodation or having a guide on board to tell you a little bit about the amazing scenery that lays before you. Keep a look out for the SITA buses, little blue buses that run along the coast, these are very cheap and can get you around when in resort.

Things to do

days to Amalfi are particularly popular due to the famous Amalfi drive. This is a hair raising trip along twisting and winding roads. Hire a car at the airport and hit the road! Holidaymakers have the opportunity to drive along the edge of mountains, past quirky towns, whilst observing some spectacular views. It does sound a bit nerve racking to say the least, but imagine it as relaxing in the driver’s seat, hair blowing in the wind and your adrenaline pumping uncontrollably and you could have a whole new outlook on the idea.

Food and drink

Italian food is renowned for being typically pasta and pizza as they did originate from Italy and they are both obviously very popular over there; however Italian food has lots of variety. The Amalfi Coast is home to such a diverse choice of eateries all of which are serving different types of cuisine, that you will be spoilt for choice. Amalfi isn’t too much of a built up holiday destination therefore it is very unlikely you will find many restaurants that serve only British favourites, however with Italy’s cuisine being such a huge influence on the UK, you will tend to find all the food here is very familiar.
