Flights to Cairo are available from a number of scheduled airlines and are packaged with superb luxury hotels in Cairo by our experienced travel professionals. Spend time enjoying scenic views across the Nile River from the window of plush Cairo hotels. Getting around Cairo is sometimes easier said than done due to the overcrowded streets of this city of over 17 million people. Buses are the cheapest form of transport throughout the city, but they can often be quite over-crowded. Taxis are also easy to find but aren’t necessarily any quicker due at getting around due to the congested streets. Getting from Cairo to Giza is possible via the metro system, but the train does not terminate at Giza and it is still necessary to get a minibus from the station to the pyramids.
A visit to the awe-inspiring pyramids is the main reason so many people travel to Egypt’s capital and the reason that Cairo holiday deals are in such great demand. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the last of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World to still be existence and is an iconic image of ancient Egypt. Surrounding the Great Pyramid are a number of smaller pyramids and the familiar figure of the Sphinx, a huge calved Egyptian god, with the body of a lion and the face of a human. These ancient monuments and the associated museums and antiquities can all be seen as part of organised Cairo tours. Take a camel ride from Giza to enjoy the Egyptian experience in true style. Another popular day out on Cairo holidays is a boat trip on the mystical and romantic River Nile. In Cairo itself there is a whole host of cosmopolitan restaurants and nightclubs and many resort hotels have their own casino.
There are plenty of food and drink options on holidays to Cairo. There is a massive choice of International cuisine, including everything from Italian, Swiss, French and Turkish, to American style steak restaurants, Asian offerings and of course some traditional Egyptian establishments. Egyptian food takes its influences from the bridging of cultures between Africa and Asia and features quite a lot of grilled meat dishes including chicken and lamb specialities such as the famous shish kebob.
