Holidays to Cala d’Or, like many Spanish resorts, take you to a former Majorcan fishing village that has been developed to accommodate an influx of foreign visitors who come to enjoy the sun, sea and sangria in this lively resort. Cala d’Or means ‘Golden Cove’ and this delightful resort certainly lives up to its name. There are seven sandy coves within the area, each with fine golden sands that shelve gently down to the warm Mediterranean Sea. The largest and most popular is Cala Gran, which boasts good facilities such as sunbeds and parasols, and is a fantastic place to soak up the sun before cooling off with a swim in the calm, shallow waters. A Cala d’Or holiday is also an excellent opportunity to enjoy the lively marina where you can sit down in a cafe, bar or restaurant and watch the yachts bob up and down on the glistening waves while you listen to the chatter around this vibrant hub of activity.
