Meaning ‘fountain’ in English, Cesme is named after the many natural springs that lie in this lovely Turkish resort. Flights to Cesme fly into Adnan Menderes International Airport, which is located a few miles from Izmir. Turkey has 10 airports, however only 4 become extremely busy in the summer. Dalaman Airport, Bodrum Airport, Antalya Airport and Izmir’s Airport are in demand between May and October, so flights to Cesme can be hard to get hold of. Food and drink is Cesme is actually quite different to that in other regions of Turkey, but is equally delicious. Keep an eye out for Cesme melon and Kumni, which are just a couple of Cesme’s specialities. A popular snack here is toasted sandwiches, which are said to be very tasty. For a selection of good bars and restaurants head to the harbour area where they are in abundance.
