Getting there and getting around

Flights to the Dominican Republic are available from a number of airports across the UK including Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Bristol. Flight operators include some of the major tour operators such as First Choice and MyTravel. Flights to Puerto Plata airport are regular in the summer months. Although car hire is an option, it is fairly inexpensive to use taxis for getting out and about and with the poor quality of some of the unlit roads it is often advisable to let a local do the driving.

Things to do

Holidays to Cofresi are the perfect opportunity to do nothing at all if you so wish, but if you decide that lying on the beach is not for you, then there are plenty of alternatives. Visit the Ocean World Marine and Water Park to come face-to-face with sharks, dolphins, stingrays and sea lions. The small shopping centre is a good place to pick up souvenirs or gifts from your Cofresi holiday, or simply to escape the hot sunshine for a little while. You could spend your entire holiday in Cofresi doing as little as possible, as many people come here to do, but you could also venture out of the resort to see for example, the botanical gardens at Mt. Isabel, or to explore the town of Puerto Plata where you will find lots of shops, bars and restaurants and an exciting Latin American flavour.

Food and drink

Although much of the food and drink in Cofresi will be hotel-based, especially for those on all inclusive holidays in Cofresi, there is still plenty of choice and lots of international flavours, including American and Mexican cooking alongside traditional Caribbean style seafood grills. The beachfront shacks typically serve light lunches and snacks along with alcoholic drinks and cocktails. Other a la carte restaurants available in the hotels include Italian and Asian menus.
