Cozumel is a stunning island just off the Yucatan Peninsula in south-eastern Mexico, perfect for honeymooners and families alike. The beaches are superb with white sands on the shores, a great contrast to the lush tropical inland that saturates the island. Mayan people first settled on the island 2000 years ago and named the island “The land of the swallows”. According to the legend, Cozumel was the home of the devoted love and fertility godess Ixchel, who sent her favourite bird the swallow as a sign of thanks and good fortune after temples were dedicated in honour of the goddess. The romantic island still has evidence from the Mayan community today. From stepping off the plane to arriving at your brilliant hotel in Cozumel you are almost guaranteed to have the holiday of a lifetime!
