Holidays to Dalaman are best suited to anyone looking for a top-notch Mediterranean beach holiday with glorious hot summer weather, good facilities and a bit of history and culture thrown in as well. Although there are already a number of resorts that have become well-established as Dalaman holiday favourites, including Marmaris, Fethiye, Hisaronu, Icmeler and Olu Deniz, the little town of Dalaman is itself undergoing development to become something of an attraction in its own right. Dalaman holidays have traditionally referred to the Dalaman ‘region’, but with a number of shops, bars, restaurants and even tea rooms, a holiday to Dalaman town has become a viable option, and one that will surely attract families and couples in search of a non-commercialised, laidback Dalaman holiday.

Dalaman holiday flights are available from larger airports such as Glasgow, Manchester and London Gatwick, but smaller regional airports including Humberside, Norwich, Bristol and Exeter also offer flights to Dalaman. There are lots of package deals out there, but when you search for cheap holidays to Dalaman you might also consider the tailor-made flight and hotel deals available at travel.co.uk. Dalaman Airport is the main serving hub for a whole range of popular resorts, so transfer times can be anywhere between 45 minutes and 2.5 hours. Yellow taxis are common in most resorts and fares can be negotiated before setting off. The dolmus (a type of shared taxi) is a low cost way of getting around in Dalaman.
Holidays to Dalaman give you the opportunity to enjoy a typical Mediterranean beach break with the added bonus of having some amazing historical sights that make great day trips. Dalaman is probably best known as the gateway to the wider coastal area that is dotted with popular and vibrant resorts. The region is blessed with lots of great beaches, superb weather and some fascinating historical features. Perhaps the most famous day trip is to the ruins of ancient Ephesus, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the distant past. Other popular attractions on Dalaman holidays include the riverside resort of Dalyan, where you can sample the Turkish baths or take riverboat cruises to the sea. One of the best known resorts for Dalaman holidays is Fethiye, which is close to the attractive Calis Beach, and is surrounded by ruins that date back nearly two and a half thousand years, having been built on the site of the ancient city of Telmessos. Holidays to Dalaman are also very popular because of the superb beaches in the region, which include the magnificent Patara Beach, almost 18km of soft sand that is considered one of the best beaches in the world. A breeding ground for loggerhead turtles, the area is also a national park and has some beautiful natural features.
On holidays in Dalaman, your choice of restaurant is quite obviously dictated to a large degree by which resort you stay in, but generally speaking there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from, featuring international cuisine as diverse as Thai, Italian, Mexican and Chinese, but don’t forget to sample the local fare as well. Turkish cooking is tends to be quite wholesome, with lots of fresh vegetables cooked with garlic and olive oil and red meat is typically avoided in favour of things like grilled chicken. However, if you’re tempted by the sweet cart then some of the calorific Turkish pastries may mean you need travel home in loose fitting trousers.
