Guardalavaca holidays offer a picturesque Cuban resort, a perfect spot for a bit of sun-kissed R and R. It incudes high quality accommodation, long stretches of white-sand beach and plenty to write home about, from fun-filled water sports to local historical attractions that are uniquely Cuban. Many Guardalavaca hotels offer all inclusive options, which give you the perfect opportunity to forget about everything and simply relax into the lap of luxury. Holidays in Guardalavaca tend to remain fairly low-key, with sunbathing and rum drinking being among the most popular activities. However, a trip to the regional capital Holguin offers an interesting flavour of everyday Cuban life and lets you mingle with local Cubans outside the confines of the Guardalavaca holiday resort.
Guardalavaca holidays' flights are charter flights from the UK from Manchester and Gatwick to the local airport at Holguin. The transfer time from the airport is around 45 minutes by coach or taxi. Although you may see little reason to go anywhere other than straight down to the beach, if you do choose to venture outside of the resort, taxis are reasonably priced. Boat excursions are a good way to see Guardalavaca from a new perspective and are a pleasant day out. A mini-train connects Guardalavaca Beach with its stunning neighbour Esmerelda Beach.
Guardalavaca holidays are not exactly bursting with choice in terms of ‘things to do’, but visitors are usually keenly aware of the attractions of a Guardalavaca holiday. Take a good book with you down the soft white sands of Guardalavaca beach to up soak the sun and listen to the gentle breeze sway the palm trees behind you. If you prefer something a little more energetic there are opportunities to try scuba diving and sailing. Culture vultures may like to liven up their Guardalavaca holiday with a trip to one of the nearby towns such as Gibara or Banes, which overflow with delightful Cuban character.
Guardalavaca holidays' food and drink is quite often based around the Guardalava all inclusive hotel’s menus. The menus offer a range of cuisine to suit different tastes, but for a more authentic taste of Cuba, make your way to the town Holguin to sample some of the local fare and sip some Cuban rum. The Hacienda Compay Gallo specialises in Creole food and breeds its own game birds including pheasants and quails. Live music performances often also feature, and the prices are very reasonable. The Conuco de Mongo Viña is a charming countryside restaurant near Esmerelda Beach that offers traditional meat and seafood specialities, made with fresh local ingredients for a superb flavour.
