Getting there and getting around

Italy is well served for airports with a total of 7 scattered around the country, Rome, Turin, Naples, Milan, Bologna and Venice all serve as main hubs. Prices for flights to Italy are considerably cheaper these days also due to low cost airlines such as Ryanair operating there. Once arrived into Italy, the best way to get around and discover the beauty of each resort is by hiring a car. You’ll find car rental desks at all the airports at very good prices. Another method of transport is train; the railway is a fantastic way to explore Italy. Unfortunately the train time tables aren’t very efficient however it’s relatively cheap to use. If it’s city hopping on a budget you’re looking for then head to one of the many local bus stations, bus travel is extremely cheap in Italy and very popular.

Things to do

Italy holidays are renowned for their extravagant culture and endless sights to explore. A famous landmark of Italy is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The tilting heart of the magical city of Pisa, the tower symbolizes many things to the Italian locals. The tower was in fact designed to be vertical however started to incline during construction. Both because of its inclination and its sheer beauty, from 1173 up to this very day the tower has been an object of very special attention. Holidays to Venice are a favourite option for holidaymakers looking for a short break in Italy. The city was constructed around water, therefore in order to take in the alluring sights and sounds, its best to do it by boat. It’s not the cheapest mode of transport and the constant rush of tourists could defy the whole object of this traditional experience; however one trip discovering the most famous places in Italy will soon wash all that away.

Food and Drink

It has been an ongoing thought that typical Italian food is pasta and pizza, without a doubt they did originate from Italy and are very popular over there; however Italian food has lots of variety. In the South of the country, food is simple but enriched with flavours, to the north it’s spicy hot food on the menu. With regards to the eating habits of all Italian locals this consists of two main dishes, an ‘antipasto,’ the starter, and then simply the main course. The antipasto usually consists of soup or salad followed by the main usually fish or meat accompanied by vegetables. If they aren’t feeling too peckish then just the one dish will suffice, then it’s back to their roots for a traditional home cooked pizza. All this is enjoyed with a chilled glass of wine. Italians love their wines, like chianti, a famous export, wine is a favourite tipple and British tourists are encouraged to try each different kind, when in Rome...
