Enjoy a Red Sea Holiday in Marsa Alam

Choose from the following sections:

Overview of Marsa Alam

Marsa Alam is an increasingly popular resort on the southwest coast of the Red Sea in Egypt. Once a small fishing village, this up-and-coming destination is beginning to rival the much more well-known resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada in terms of popularity. This is partly due to direct Marsa Alam flights arriving at the local airport built in 2003. Marsa Alam is renowned for its warm, clear waters and is the ideal spot for scuba divers in search of some of the best spots along the Red Sea. Things to do

Here you can simply relax in the exotic surroundings, or if you fancy something a little more active then Marsa Alam holidays are perfect for a spot of Scuba diving and snorkelling. The resort has access to about 100km of striking coral reefs, some of which can be reached by beach jetties and others only by organised boat excursions. Some of the best dive sites in the Red Sea are nearby, such as Elphinstone Reef and Samadai Reef, which is also referred to as the 'Dolphin House' as it is home to over 100 spinner dolphins and there is also a high chance of glimpsing dugongs and hammerhead sharks. You can travel to other coastal resorts via car or boat to discover other beautiful untouched beach spots. Another feature of Marsa Alam holidays is the amazing views over desert terrain, where a traditional safari trek on camel back should not be missed. Other inland adventures could include trips to the Temple of SetiI and the Emerald Mines.

Food and drink
