Tenerife is home to the magnificent Mount Tiede, take a bus ride out to the Tiede National Park and look with amazement at the incredible views from Spain’s highest peak. Another trip you might want to take part in is the ‘Cliffs of the Giants’ where you will see sheer rock sides with vertical drops down into the Atlantic Ocean, to get a better view take a boat ride and get up close. If you choose to hire a car go exploring to spot the banana plantations and stop for a walk with nature in Corona Forestal Nature Reserve, where you can sit and watch the local fishing boats come in from a day at sea. If all this exploring has left you tired relax down at the beach, the black exotic sand has been reformed by sand brought from the seabed to create a blue flag beach backed with tropical lush plants and an amazing backdrop. Puerto de la Cruz cuisine is a mixture of traditional Canarian foods with international dishes on many menus, you are bound to find something you like. Great British favourites such as fish and chips can be eaten walking along the beautiful promenade. Local Canarian food is mouth-watering, you have to try the hot and spicy mojo sauce and fabulous fresh fish or delicious pork dishes served up with papas arrugadas, which are lovely salted boiled potatoes.
