Getting there and getting around

When flying into Thassos Town, passengers must first arrive at the airport, then transfer to the port and catch a ferry to the town. As much of a burden as that may seem, it is all relatively quick. Kavala Airport is where flights to Thassos Town are operated, which was initially a military airport, but in 1987 became an International commercial airport. It is located 10km south of Kavala, and it takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the ferry terminal at Keramoti. Both charter and scheduled flights land here during the summer with many major tour operators offering fantastic prices.

Things to do

If you can tear yourself away from one of the many excellent beaches here that scatter the coastline of Thassos Town, you'll find some delightful inland villages to explore, as well as fabulous walking trails and the extensive ruins of a once great city built many years ago. Ruins of Thassos Town are scattered over a large area of the modern-day resort giving it the appearance of a colossal outdoor museum. You can marvel in the remains of temples, shrines, a theatre and the fortified walls when on your holidays to Thassos Town, therefore you will never be lost for something to do.
