Humberside Airport started out as a Royal Air Force base, and was named RAF Kirmington which opened in 1941 during World War II, including being the home of the Lancaster Bomber until the war ended in 1945. The RAF base was left unused until in 1974 the local council decided to redevelop it with a budget of £320.00 and called it Kirmington Airport, until six days later when the areas name was changed to Humberside by the local government, hence the airport ‘s named changed also to Humberside Airport.
Humberside Airport is located in North Lincolnshire, 10 miles west of Grimsby and 15 miles south of Kingston upon Hull, it connects over half a million passengers to 30 destinations every year. Humberside Airport Located off the A18, three miles from Junction 5 of the M180, these routes can be reached by the M18, M62, M1 and A1 as well as the Humber Bridge. The Airport has a taxi service, two car hire companies Avis and Europcar, a Stagecoach called ‘Humber Flyer’ which travel between the airport to Hull and Grimsby and the nearest train station is three miles away with regular service to Doncaster.
