First opened in 1940, the location was used as an RAF base during the War until 1969 when it was redeveloped by Norwich Council into Norwich International Airport, it now brings in numerous Norwich flights. In 2005, a 3.5 million pound terminal development began in order to increase the number of flights from Norwich Airport.
