Norwich Airport was developed on a former World War one site that was no longer intact during World War Two. First opened in 1940, the location was used as an RAF base during the War until 1969 when it was redeveloped by Norwich Council into Norwich International Airport, it now brings in numerous Norwich flights. After years of constant renovation and upgrades, Norwich Airport has seen a great expansion in business and is one of the main hubs throughout the UK for the low cost airline Flybe. In 2005, a 3.5 million pound terminal development began in order to increase the number of flights from Norwich Airport. As it stands today, the Airport has only one runway due to a separate runway being closed in 2006 and created into a taxiway, yet it still manages to provide sufficient Norwich Holidays.
Norwich Airport is situated 2.5 miles north of the city centre in Norfolk, which is on the edge of the city’s Suburbs. Also, very close to the main terminal building, Norwich parking facilities offer plenty of spaces to passengers for both short and long stay car parking.
